Bruce Power Realizes 9 MWe (approx. 1%) Power Recovery at Unit A3 with PROCESSPLUS®

Three years after initiation of the Major Component Replacement project at Unit A3 of the Bruce Power Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario, Canada, the unit was successfully restarted in June of 2026. In the framework of the PROCESSPLUS® process data reconciliation (PDR/DVR) System integration project started in 2021, BTB Jansky was asked to fine-tune the underlying model and determine correction factors for feedwater flow, temperature and reheater drain flows. The new correction factors - replacing the conventional yearly clamp-on measurement campaigns – went live on August 15, 2026 and resulted in an instant power recovery of 1% of total approved output.

The next and final Bruce Power Unit – A4 – will go online in 2028 and PROCESSPLUS® correction factors will be applied.

The total recovered power at Bruce Power now exceeds 50 MWe.
