"Power plant operating companies in Germany waste up to 170 millions of euros"

Up to 1200 megawatt of unused power reserve are lost in plants of operating companies in Germany. This undetected potential could generate up to 170 millions of euros as yearly profits in the power market. Using process data reconciliation software in combination with Process Plus, which is certified by the VDI (Association of German Engineers), unemployed power reserves can be detected and realized in an easy and cost effective manner.

Due to liberalization of the power supply and the cost explosion at the international fuel markets, economic efficiency is a must for power plant operating companies. Any action that helps to increase efficiency of existing power plants is preferable, because it is much more profitable than building a new power plant.

The costs of building a new power plant are in the range of 4 billion euros, depending on the type of the reactor. Therefore new and innovative concepts are required. The VDI Centre for Advanced Training is discussing this topic at the conference in Düsseldorf at the 18th and 19th of November 2004. BTB (Büro für Technik und Managagementberatung, Leonberg) presents, how operating companies of nuclear and conventional power plants can achieve a durable reduction of costs by using the process data reconciliation software and post-processing-tools. This results in an effective and lasting reduction of energy expenses of the end-consumer.

If the German utilities would operate their plants according to the actual state of the scientific and technical knowledge, an additional output of the power plants of up to 1200 MW would be available enough energy to provide around 1.5 million four-person households with electric energy year by year. These unemployed reserves have a value of up to 170 millions of euros. To turn these unemployed potentials into profit, big investments from the energy companies would not be necessary.

"Investment costs
for Process Plus have amortized after a few weeks"

summarizes Dr. Magnus Langenstein, general manager of BTB Jansky GmbH. BTB is the exclusive distributor of the process data reconciliation technology, developed by the Belgian software specialist Belsim, for Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the USA and supports customers from all over the world, which run energy converting plants. Energy producing companies, that already work with the innovative instrument as part of their plants are EnBW, RWE, Stadtwerke Düsseldorf, EDF (France) ATEL (Switzerland) and NOK (Switzerland). This enabled these operating companies to increase the output of their plants by a minimum of 1%, which is equivalent to a durable profit of 7 million euros per year.

Process Plustogether with VALI 4.0© is the first and so far the only commercial product, qualified by TÜV-Südwest (Technical Inspection Agency) and certified by the Association of German Engineers (VDI, VDI-directive 2048).
